USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah Arrives May 25

Dr. Rajiv Shah, the head of the U.S. Agency for International Development, arrives on Tuesday, May 25 to participate in a number of important meetings in Bangladesh. This will be Dr. Shah’s first official visit to Bangladesh since he was appointed by President Obama as the 16th Administrator of USAID.

A U.S. Government agency, USAID has provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for almost 50 years. While in Bangladesh, Administrator Shah will attend the opening of the Food Security Investment Forum, hosted by the Government of Bangladesh for May 26– 27.

The forum highlights an important element of President Obama’s Feed the Future Initiative, supporting countries in developing their own food security investment plans. The Food Security Investment Forum is an important platform for facilitating a dialogue between key stakeholders to prioritize food security goals and activities in the country. At the Forum, Dr. Shah will meet with government officials, civil society, and opinion leaders in Bangladesh.
