About the Embassy

The Mission

Welcome to the United States Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The United States has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Bangladesh continuously since 1971. The bilateral relationship is strong and growing stronger. The United States Mission to Bangladesh is currently headed by Ambassador James F. Moriarty. The Ambassador is assisted by the staffs of the Political/Economic/Commercial, Public Affairs, Administrative and Consular Sections. The U.S. Mission to Bangladesh includes several other agencies of the United States Government, including:

  • United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
  • Foreign Agriculture Service of U.S. Department of Agriculture
  • Library of Congress
  • United States Defense Attache Office
  • Department of Justice
