Enroll with U.S. Embassy Dhaka

The Embassy urges all U.S. citizens, even those visiting Bangladesh for a short time, to sign-up with the Embassy’s Consular Section.  In the event of a large-scale emergency, or a personal or family emergency, enrollment allows the Embassy to provide information and critical assistance to U.S. citizens in Bangladesh. Enrollment is the only way to guarantee that the Embassy is aware of your presence in the country and is able to contact you and assist you in such circumstances.

Enrollment is for U.S. citizens only. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program allows you to sign-up and update your contact information on the Internet at any time, making it easier for you to keep your information current. The site also provides you with up-to-date travel information customized to your unique travel agenda and itinerary. The data that you provide can be used only by duly authorized personnel in Embassies, Consulates, and the Department of State, and we are required by law to keep that information confidential unless authorized by you to release it.

Enrollment with the Consular Section will also integrate you into the Embassy’s Warden System. The Consular Warden System is the Embassy’s primary means of communication with U.S. citizens in Bangladesh during an emergency. Warden Messages, information that is sent through the warden system, are distributed directly to U.S. citizens who sign-up with us online.  The warden system consists of U.S. citizens who volunteer to disseminate information passed on by the Embassy to other U.S. citizens in the country, particularly when e-mail communication is unavailable or insufficient. Enrollment Options

Enrollment Online: We encourage you to sign-up online by using the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.

If you are unable to sign-up online, you can sign-up by following the steps below.

1. Download the U.S. Citizen Smart Traveler Enrollment Program Form that is available by clicking on Sign-up for Travel Info! (PDF 116 KB) This form requires the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free.
2. Fill out all forms by legibly printing or typing on all pages. Please make sure to fill out Privacy Act information. Attach a copy of the biographical data and visa page of your U.S. passport. Individuals may also wish to attach a map of their location to help your Warden or the Embassy contact you in the event of an emergency. While individuals travelling together must each submit an individual form, a family travelling together only needs to fill out one enrollment form but attach a copy of the biographical data and visa pages of the passports of each family member.
3. Submit the forms by turning them in to the American Citizen Services Unit in person any working day, Sunday through Thursday (except for holidays), 1:00PM to 4:00PM or by faxing them to (880) (2) 882-4449 or by e-mailing them to DhakaW@state.gov.
