David Meale, Chargé d'affaires

Biography

David Meale became the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in August 2014. He has been acting as Chargé d'affaires, a.i. since the departure of former Ambassador Dan Mozena on December 21, 2014. 

Mr. Meale was previously the Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine. With over 20 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, Mr. Meale has also served as Deputy Director of the Office of Monetary Affairs in the Economic Bureau and held assignments in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Guinea, on the Israel Desk in Washington, and as a student at the National Defense University.  He has an MS from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, an MBA from Tulane University, and a BA from the University of Delaware. Mr. Meale has studied Ukrainian, Chinese, and French at the Foreign Service Institute. He is married to Lisa O’Donnell and has two children.
