Expedited Appointment Procedures

Bangla Text

Emergency Travel: The Consular Section may schedule expedited appointments for urgent visa applications.  An expedited appointment may be approved due to a medical emergency, hospitalization, funeral, or other emergency. Supporting documents may help us process your case more quickly.  For example, you may consider bringing a letter from the funeral home, a letter from the doctor or hospital detailing the nature of the emergency, or proof of ability to pay any medical bills.  Business travelers may request expedited appointments.

If you believe that you qualify for an expedited appointment, please email the Consular Section at DhakaNIV@state.gov, or fax a written request for an appointment to: 882-4449.

Expedited appointments are not available after normal working hours or on days when the Embassy is closed.

Important note:  All applicants must be qualified before a visa can be issued.
Some non-immigrant visa applications require additional processing.  We realize the associated visa issuance delays may disrupt your travel plans.  Nonetheless, this Embassy, like all U.S. embassies and consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law.  In some cases, this involves extensive administrative processing.
We cannot predict when additional processing be completed. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all applicants apply at least three months prior to intended travel.   If you are granted an expedited appointment, and found qualified for a visa, if your case requires additional processing, there is no guarantee that you will receive a visa prior to your intended travel date.  Additional processing can be neither expedited nor waived, even for emergency travel.
