The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings mid-career professionals from developing countries, who have exemplified leadership in public service, to the United States for one year of study and practical, work-related experience.
Humphrey Fellows undertake graduate level study related to their professional needs and fields of interest. They are placed in clusters at specific departments of selected U.S. universities that offer a broad base of courses and activities. The programs do not normally result in the granting of a degree.
Individually tailored programs include a combination of courses, independent projects, special seminars, field trips, attendance at professional meetings, and consultations and internships with government agencies or private organizations and corporations. Emphasis is placed on obtaining practical knowledge useful in the Fellows' home countries.
Fellowships are limited to one academic year preceded, if required, by a period of English language training. Each grant covers full tuition, international transportation and modest living expenses.
Fellowships are granted competitively to professional candidates with a commitment to public service in both the public and private sectors. Residents of Bangladesh can obtain further information from the American Center, Dhaka.
