Dr. Burdett Loomis Discusses “American Politics and the Obama Administration” in Dhaka

The Embassy hosted Dr. Burdett "Bird" Loomis, Professor of Political Science at the University of Kansas, in Dhaka August 9-13. A prominent Congressional scholar, Dr. Loomis has also worked for the Kansas Public Employees Review Board, the Office of Governor Kathleen Sebelius, and the Robert J. Dole Institute for Public Service and Public Policy. Dr. Loomis received his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has authored and edited dozens of books, most recently Republic on Trial and Choosing a President.
In Bangladesh, Dr. Loomis discussed the subject of the American political system, the Obama Administration, and the important relationship between the President and the Senate. Audience members had numerous questions about the American political process as well as President Obama's policies. Dr. Loomis spoke at the Bangladesh Institute for International and Strategic Studies, the Institute of Governance Studies at BRAC University, the Civil Service College, the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center, the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh, the National Defense College, and the American International University – Bangladesh.
