Announcement issued by the Department of State on February 18, 2005
The U.S. Department of State has revised the Schedule of Fees for Consular Services. The new schedule of fees will be effective March 8, 2005 for all new requests for following consular services. The new fees will not apply to applications made before March 8, 2005 that are pending at the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka.
In order to recover the actual costs of providing most consular services, the fees for consular services are periodically adjusted. Recovering the actual cost of providing consular services is essential to maintaining and improving high-quality customer service, utilizing advances in information technology and enhancing the security features of the consular function of border security. The Schedule of Fees for Consular Services revisions include:
An increase in the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery surcharge from $100 to $375
A surcharge of $45 to be added to the current fees for immigrant visas, including Diversity Visas.
A surcharge of $12 to be added to all applications for U.S. passports.
An increase in the file search and verification of U.S. citizenship from $45 to $60
A new surcharge of $500 fee for Fraud Prevention and Detection fee has been scheduled for L-1 visa who are included in a blanket petition.
A reduction in the fee charged for issuance of a transportation letter for Legal Permanent Resident Aliens (LPRA) to reenter the U.S. from abroad from $300 to $165
An increase in the application for Determining Returning Resident Status from $360 to $400
