Effective immediately, non-immigrant visa applicants should pick-up their passports and visas at the booth at gate # 2 from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

As of June 15, 2011 our procedures and costs for medical exams are changing.

All immigrant and diversity visa applicants ages 2-14 will be required to undergo a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) at the panel physician of their choice.  TST tests require two visits to the doctor:

a. first visit to the doctor for the administration of the test
b.  second visit for a diagnosis three calendar days later

All applicants ages 2-14 should be prepared to visit the panel physician three days after the initial test.

The new cost for visa applicants ages 0-14 is Tk 1600 and visa applicants ages 15 and older is Tk 3000.

If each applicant in your family has not completed their medical exam prior to the interview date, your entire family will be rescheduled for the next available interview date.  This date may be many months in the future.  In this case, your medical exams may be expired, and you may need to re-do your medical exams prior to your new interview date or visa issuance.

You must begin your medical tests at least seven days prior to your interview date, as medical exams may take several days or longer to complete. If you fail to do that, we may not receive your medical report prior your interview date.

You must bring your passport to the panel physician on each visit.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR DV APPLICANTS:
It is very important for DV applicants and their family members to complete their medical exams as soon as possible.  All DV applicants must begin their medical exams by June 30, 2011.    If your medical exam is not complete prior to your interview date, your interview will not be rescheduled, and we will not process your case.

New Online Visa Form to Streamline Application Process

The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka is transitioning to a completely web-based Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) application form.  With demand for U.S. visas increasing worldwide, the State Department is committed to using new technologies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the visa application process.  The new DS-160 NIV application takes advantage of new technology to serve visa applicants better.  The new DS-160 replaces all existing NIV application forms with a single interactive, online form.  The DS-160 is available and may be used now. Applicants will be required to submit NIV applications using the DS-160 on May 15, 2010.  You may complete the CEAC DS-160 non-immigrant visa application form at ceac.state.gov/genniv.

Changes to Non-Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fees and Consular Fees

On June 04, 2010, the Department of State changed the nonimmigrant visa application processing fees, also called the Machine-Readable Visa (MRV) fee, and passport application fees.  To see the full consular fee schedule, click here

Changes to Medical Examination Procedures

Effective November 1, 2009, all medical examinations for immigrant and diversity visa applicants will be delivered to the Consular Section directly by the panel physician’s office. Applicants will no longer be required to bring their medical examinations along with them to the interview. All applicants will need to make their medical examination appointment at least 10 days before their scheduled interview. This will allow time for the examining physician to complete the medical examination and forward the report to us. Please see the updated instructions for medical examinations (PDF_220KB) for more details.

Diversity Visa Application Fee Payment Change

Effective May 23, 2010, the US Embassy Consular Section will no longer accept Diversity Visa application fees on the interview date.  After that date, all Diversity Visa application fees must be deposited at Standard Chartered Bank’s North Gulshan branch located at 189 Gulshan Avenue (North), Gulshan-2, Dhaka-1212 prior to the applicant’s scheduled interview date.
