Demonstration Notice

In addition to the violence at Dhaka University, the police have alerted the Embassy to violence between rival groups of transportation workers in the Paltan Neighborhood near the BNP Headquarters in downtown Dhaka.  American citizens should avoid the area in and around Paltan until further notice. 

We remind all Americans to exercise vigilance when traveling in Dhaka as demonstrations can occur with little warning.  Please be alert and aware at all times and vary routes and schedules.  We encourage all American Citizens to carry their mobile phones with them at all times.
