Demonstration Notice

Police have informed the Embassy that the Bangladesh National Party will stage protest demonstrations at the following places throughout Dhaka city today:

• Nayapaltan BNP HQ at 1100 hours. A protest procession is expected to march towards Bijoynagar, Baitul Mukarram, Press Club and Secretariat area.
• Nawabpur (Old Town) at 1100 hours.  A protest procession will march towards the Old Town Dhaka area.
• Muktangan, near Secretariat at 1500 hours.
• Gulshan office at Rd # 86 intersection from 1030 hours.

Police recommend  avoiding the above listed areas during the times indicated.  We remind all Americans to exercise vigilance when traveling in Dhaka as demonstrations can occur with little warning.  Please be alert and aware at all times and vary routes and schedules.  We encourage all American Citizens to carry their mobile phones with them at all times.
