Demonstration Notice

Police have informed the Embassy that student supporters of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (BNP student supporters) at Dhaka University are demonstrating in protest for Tarique Rahman’s (elder son of Khaleda Zia) health. Demonstrations have also been held at the Engineering University, Dhaka College and Titumir College at Mihakhali. The Embassy advises all American citizens residing in or visiting Bangladesh to avoid Dhaka College, Titumir College, Emgineering University, and Dhaka University. Further, we recommend that all American citizens avoid large crowds, remain alert and aware at all times, and carry mobile phones.
