Scurity Notice, December 6, 2006

The police have stated that the following groups have planned demonstrations near downtown Dhaka on Wednesday, December 6, 2006.

The Awami League will organize a “sit-in” siege around the Election Commission Secretariat from 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs. Demonstrators will start heading toward the EC Secretariat from three points, Russell Square, Agargaon and Mohakhali.

Bangladesh Chattro-moitree will hold demonstration/rallies at 11:00 hrs from Central Shahid Minar to Muktangan.

Progoti-sheel Chattro Joth will hold a demonstration at 12:00 hrs at the Dhaka University.

We recommend that American citizens continue to avoid areas where large crowds are gathered, especially Russell Square, Agargaon, Mohakhali, Shahid Minar to Muktangan and the Dhaka University.

We also recommend that American citizens continue to monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
