The Awami League has called for a dawn to dusk general strike (Hartal) in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Niphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram district and Sylhet-3 constituency (Dakshin Surma and Fenchuganj).  As a result, some demonstrations are expected in the Muktangon, Bangbandhu Avenue, Paltan, Bijoy Nagar and Agargaon areas.

The Embassy advises all American Citizens to avoid these areas.  

We also recommend that American citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
