The police have stated that the following groups have planned demonstrations near downtown Dhaka on Thursday, November 2, 2006.
Shammilito Nagorik Andolon will hold a demonstration at 14:00 hours at the Muktangon.
Hizbut Tahrir will hold a demonstration at 16:30 hours at the Baitul Mukarram (national mosque) north gate.
Gonomukti Andolon will hold a demonstration at 15:30 hours at the Muktangon.
Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee will hold a demonstration at 11:00 hours at the Bangabandhu Avenue.
The BNP - led alliance will have rallies and processions throughout the country. There will be large public gatherings at the Muktangan, Naya Paltan, Paltan Maidan and Bangabandhu Avenue. Although there is no violence at this time the situation remains fluid and the potential for violence can flare up at any moment.
The Embassy advises all American Citizens to avoid the following areas during the time specified above.
We also recommend that American Citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
