GENERAL DEMONSTRATIONS

Police have confirmed that the following groups have planned demonstrations near downtown Dhaka on Wednesday, November 8, 2006.

The Bangladesh Teachers Association will hold a demonstration at 10:00 am at the Muktangan.

The Bangladesh Manobadhikar Shomonnoy Porishad will hold a demonstration at 11:00 hrs.at Panthopoth.

The Awami League will organize a demonstration at 14:00 hrs at the Muktangan.

The Leftist Democratic Party will hold a demonstration at 16:00 hrs at Naya Paltan.

Police have also stated that the Awami League will hold country-wide demonstrations for the whole day. Most of the programs in the city are scheduled at the Muktangan.

We recommend that American citizens avoid the Muktangan for the whole day and to avoid Naya Paltan and Panthopoth during the time mentioned above.

We also recommend that American citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
