The police have stated that the following groups have planned demonstrations near downtown Dhaka on Tuesday, November 30, 2006.

The Awami League will organize a "sit-in" near downtown Dhaka today starting from 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs.

The Embassy advises that all American citizens avoid areas where large crowds are gathered, especially the Bangabhaban, Naya Paltan, Ittefaq intersection, Joy Kali Temple Road, Nawabpur Road, Bangabandhu Square, Golapshah Mazar, GPO, South Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Paltan intersection, Dainik Bangla intersection, Shapla Square and Purana Paltan.

We also recommend that American citizens continue to monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media. English language news is available on the following channels at the following times:

BTV – 22:00
BTV – 23:30 (also broadcast by all local Satellite stations: ATN, Channel I, NTV, RTV, Banglavision Channel 1, Boishaki)
