GENERAL DEMONSTRATIONS

Police confirmed that agitated garment workers may hold demonstrations in the following areas: Abdullahpur (Uttara), Gazipur, Mirpur, Ashulia, Savar, Malibagh, Sayedabad (areas of Dhaka city) in support of their demands for pay raises, payment of Eid bonus and pay in advance.

Police also confirmed expectations of heavy traffic as a result of these demonstrations, there could possibly be civil unrest all over the city during the entire day especially in Abdullahpur (Uttara), Gazipur, Mirpur, Ashulia, Savar, Malibagh and Sayedabad.

We recommend that American citizens avoid these areas during these demonstrations

We also recommend that American citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
