Security Notice, October 22, 2006

GENERAL DEMONSTRATIONS

Police sources confirmed that the following groups have planned demonstrations near downtown Dhaka on Sunday, October 22, 2006.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh will hold a demonstration at 11:00 hours at the Muktangan.

The Awami League and the opposition party will hold countrywide demonstrations today. In Dhaka , the demonstrations will be staged at the Paltan Maidan, Bangabandhu Avenue and the Muktangan starting from 14:00 hours.

Police also confirmed expectations of heavy traffic as a result of these demonstrations.

We recommend that American citizens avoid the Muktangan, Paltan Maidan and Bangabandhu Avenue areas during the times specified above.

We also recommend that American citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.
