Demonstration Notice

The Embassy has learned of a planned demonstration by the Chatra League at all educational institutions throughout the country at 11:00a.m. today.  The Jubo League plans to hold a demonstration on Bangabandhu Avene at 3:00p.m.  The protestors are expected to move along Bangabandhu Avenue in the area running by the national stadium and the Baitul Mukarram Mosque. 

The Embassy advises all Americans to avoid all travel to educational institutions and Bangabandhu Avenue for the next 24 hours.

We remind all Americans to exercise vigilance when traveling in Dhaka as demonstrations can occur with little warning. Please be alert and aware at all times and vary routes and schedules. We encourage all American Citizens to carry their mobile phones with them at all times.
