Security Notice

Security Notice, October 31, 2006

The "Siege program" of the Awami League and 14- Party Alliance has been withdrawn. The security environment in Dhaka is calm, road blockades were removed, intra/inter city road and rail transportation systems are functioning at regular levels.

The Bangladesh National Party (BNP ) and the Awami League (AL) will have separate rallies and meetings throughout Dhaka. Areas of large public gatherings will be the Muktangan, Naya Paltan, Paltan Maidan, Bangabandhu Avenue and Dhaka University.  For now, it is calm; however the situation remains fluid and violence could flare up at any time.  

We recommend that American citizens monitor announcements that are published in the local press or announced in the local media.

BTV – 22:00
BTV – 23:30 (also broadcast by all local Satellite stations: ATN, Channel I, NTV, RTV, Banglavision Channel 1, Boishaki)
