Trade with the U.S.

How to Import U.S. Goods and Services

The Embassy’s U.S. Trade Center (USTC) plays a vital role in promoting U.S. exports to Bangladesh.  U.S. products and services are of high quality, incorporate the latest technology, and are available on competitive terms.  Bangladeshi companies interested in importing U.S. goods and services are invited to take advantage of the following USTC services:

  • Commercial Library: The USTC’s Commercial Library is a resource center containing valuable reference books, trade directories, catalogs from various U.S. firms, and trade magazines.  There is no charge for using these reference materials.  The Commercial Library is located in the USTC office on the Embassy compound (Gate 3) and is open to the public Sunday through Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

  • Catalog Shows: U.S. firms demonstrate their products and services through catalog displays organized by the USTC.  We typically hold annual catalog shows in association with the chambers of commerce in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna.  In 2002, we also held a catalog show in Comilla.  The USTC and the local chambers publicize the dates of our catalog shows well in advance of the event.

  • International Buyer Programs in the U.S.:  The USTC often sponsors delegations from Bangladesh to travel to trade shows in the U.S.  We sponsored the largest foreign delegation attending SuperComm 2002 in Atlanta and the Houston Electric Power Show in 2003.  Since the USTC is unable to sponsor delegations to every show, Bangladeshi business representatives are encouraged to make their own arrangements to attend these shows.

  • U.S. Trade Show: Held annually in conjunction with the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, the U.S. Trade Show displays the goods and services of numerous American firms.  The Trade Show attracts thousands of visitors every year and is typically held each January in Dhaka.
