Warden Message, January 5, 2006
Police sources have confirmed the following Public Demonstrations are planned for January 6, 2006.
* The Islamic Constitutional Movement will organize a rally around the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 1500 hours.
* The Islami Chatra Sena will stage a demonstration around the National Mosque at 1500 hours in protest of the harassment of Madrasha students by the police.
Police advise avoiding the following downtown areas during these demonstrations:
Baitul Mukarram, National Mosque, National Press Club, Muktangan, Purana Paltan area, and the Bangladesh Secretariat.
We wish to remind American Citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn violent and the recent bombings used crowds as cover. American Citizens are urged to avoid these areas if possible, and to exercise caution whenever they are in the vicinity of demonstrations. We advise all Americans to avoid large public gatherings, especially if an incident has just occurred.
