Warden Message

Warden Message, August 20, 2007

Given past violence associated with large public gatherings, the following advice remains valid particularly in view of the anniversaries of political significance in Bangladesh.  For example, August 21 is the anniversary of the 2004 grenade attack at an Awami League rally.  Police expect peaceful commemorative events, including wreath laying at the Awami League Party Central Office, Banani Cemetery, and other locations.  Road closures and traffic congestion are possible.

Please be alert and aware at all times, continue to vary your routes and schedules, and carry your mobile phone with you.

General guidance for all emergencies is “GET IN, STAY IN, and TUNE IN.”
