The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will hold a grand public rally at 1400 hours today at the Paltan Maidan. Police has estimated rally attendance at several thousand people.
Khatme Nabuyat Movements Bangladesh will stage a protest demonstration around the north gate of Baitul Mukarram national mosque today at 1600 hours in support of their demands for the government to declare Kadiyani community as non Muslim.
Police have advised to avoid the following downtown areas during these demonstrations: Paltan Maidan, Matijheel, Baitul Mukarram, Purana Paltan, Bangladesh Secretariat, Rajuk Avenue, Bangabandhu Stadium.
In addition, Police further advised to avoid Dhaka University Campus, due to unstable situation prevailing in the campus from last night's student groups clash and today’s Teacher Association Election.
We wish to remind American Citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn violent. American Citizens are urged to avoid these areas if possible, and to exercise caution whenever they are in the vicinity of demonstrations.
