Due to the ongoing situation related to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has restricted its American employees to the Diplomatic Enclave until further notice. The security situation remains fluid. There are unconfirmed reports of violence in other cities within Bangladesh. We advise all Americans to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from the BDR HQ area in Dhanmondi. Americans are reminded to exercise routine personal security awareness and encouraged to avoid crowds. The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor the situation.
