Warden Message, March 12, 2006
The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka would like to remind American citizens of the possibility of reprisal attacks against Westerners by Jamatul Mujihadeen Bangladesh (JMB) elements following the arrest of five of JMB's top seven leaders. In this vein, Peace Corps Bangladesh has decided to recall to Dhaka 14 volunteers after a reported threat against a volunteer in the Rajshahi division. The volunteers are expected to remain in Dhaka until the seriousness of the reported threat can be fully assessed.
We urge all Americans to re-examine their personal security practices, using the web link on personal safety (http://www.state.gov/m/ds/rls/rpt/19773.htm), and to continue to monitoring the Embassy's website for updated security information.
