Warden Message
May 1, 2008
This Warden Message is to alert all U.S. citizens that Cyclone NARGIS is expected to make landfall in Burma as early as midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning, May 2 to 3. Although it is not expected to hit any closer than 200-300 nautical miles off Chittagong, weather can be unpredictable, and we urge U.S. citizens in the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazaar area to be alert to possible shifts in direction. The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor Cyclone NARGIS’ track, and will issue updated messages if NARGIS appears to threaten Chittagong. In the event of a cyclone, U.S. citizens are urged to locate shelter, monitor media reports, and follow all official instructions.
